OBERLIN, Ohio -- Allegheny men's indoor track and field athlete Tim Hassett placed sixth among nine competitors in the North Coast Athletic Conference Pentathlon on Saturday at Oberlin.
Hassett scored a total of 2,605 points and recorded his best finish in the 55-meter hurdles. He finished the hurdle event in 8.45 seconds -- good enough for four place.
In the long jump, Hassett stretched 5.60 meters (18 feet, 4 1/2 inches) to finish fifth. He also grabbed sixth in the shot put (9.32 meters, 30-7) and sixth in the high jump (1.65 meters, 5-5).
Wes Chamblee of Wabash was the event champion with 3,240 points. He was followed by Wittenberg's Tim Uher (2,951) and Ohio Wesleyan's David Burke (2,878), who placed second and third, respectively.
The pentathlon is the first event of the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will continue at Denison on March 5-6.
